First Time Growing Santa Fe Grande Chillis... and I’m in LOVE!
This season I decided to try something new in the garden — and WOW, the Santa Fe Grande chillis are absolutely killing it!
It’s my first time ever growing them, and they’ve officially earned a permanent spot in the patch
About the Chilli:
Scoville Heat Units (SHU): 500 – 700 (mild heat)
Maturity: 75–85 days from transplant
Flavour: Mild, slightly sweet with a gentle kick — perfect for fresh salsas, pickling, or stuffing
Colour: Starts off pale yellow, ripens to orange and finally a bright red
Plump, tapered pods around 6–10cm long
Why I’m Loving Them:
Productive as hell — the plant’s loaded!
Super versatile in the kitchen
The colour progression is beautiful
Great for anyone who wants flavour with a little heat
For a milder chilli, it still brings that bold, old-school chilli vibe. I can’t believe I waited this long to grow them!
Let’s hear it for the unsung heroes of the chilli world — who else has grown Santa Fe Grande?
