Ghost Chilli (Bhut Jolokia) Madness
Meet my wild and fiery Ghost Chilli plants!
These little devils are cranking out chillies like there's no tomorrow!
What makes them so scary?
SHU (Scoville Heat Unit): A mind-blowing 1,041,427 SHU (that’s over 400 times hotter than a Jalapeño! Don’t worry, I’ve got gloves on when handling these bad boys.)
Origin: Native to India.
Taste:
Aside from the insane heat, they bring a fruity, smoky flavor to any dish. Warning: one tiny sliver is enough to set your taste buds on a rollercoaster ride of fire
Growing Tips for Ghost Chillis
Space: These plants get BIG, so give them room to spread out.
Sun: They LOVE heat, so full sun is a must
Watering: Keep them well-watered but ensure good drainage — soggy roots = sad chillis! I put mine in my IBC wicking bed!
Fertilize: Use a balanced fertilizer every few weeks to keep them growing strong.
Harvesting: Wait until they turn a vibrant red/orange (depending on variety) for peak heat.
Fun Fact: Did you know the Ghost Chilli was once the world's hottest pepper? It's been dethroned by others, but its legacy is still legendary.
Why am I getting so many chillis?
My plant has gone crazy this season! The heat and sun are doing their magic, and I’m swimming in these fiery fruits. Can you handle the heat?
